Yamaha HS 5 vs Yamaha HS 8
Same series, same 1-inch tweeter and the same flat response that made Yamaha monitors famous. What changes is the woofer size and what that means in your room. Prices are per unit: you need two for stereo.
Today the Yamaha HS 5 costs 130€ less than the Yamaha HS 8 (45%).

The HS8 reaches down to 38 Hz with 120 W, against 54 Hz and 70 W for the HS5: you hear the sub-bass of the kick and bass without a subwoofer. But in a small, untreated room that energy bounces off the walls and creates booms that mislead more than they help; there the HS5 gives a more reliable picture, and it weighs half as much and takes less desk space. Both have rear room and high trim controls to suit where you place them. For a bedroom or small studio, the HS5; for a medium-sized room with some treatment, or if you make bass-heavy music, the HS8.
