The HS5 is dry and flat, with very exposed mids: it doesn't flatter the mix, so what sounds good on it tends to hold up elsewhere, although it gets tiring after many hours. The RP5 G5 has fuller bass and is more pleasant at low volume, with a glass-aramid woofer and DSP room EQ on the back panel; the HS5 also adapts to the room, with analogue switches. If your priority is mixing on an unvarnished sound, the HS5; if you make electronic or urban music and want to feel the bass without turning it up, the RP5 G5.
