Focusrite Scarlett Solo 4th Gen vs MOTU M2
Two entry-level interfaces for recording at home, but their inputs and connections are not equivalent.
Which one to choose
The Scarlett Solo has one XLR mic input and one instrument input: enough for voice and guitar, but it can't record two microphones at once. The MOTU M2 has two combo inputs, MIDI DIN in and out, and a screen with level meters on the interface itself. If you always record one source and want to spend as little as possible, the Solo; if you will ever record two mics, connect a keyboard over MIDI or want to read levels without looking at the computer, the M2.
