Which one to choose

The NT1-A has a 1-inch diaphragm and very low self-noise (5 dBA), noticeable when recording soft vocals or acoustic instruments with the gain up; its treble is bright and can emphasise sibilance. It also comes with a shock mount, pop filter and cable. The AT2020 has a 16 mm diaphragm, more self-noise (20 dBA) and a slightly tamer top end; it handles more sound pressure (144 dB) and only comes with a clip and pouch, so you need to add a shock mount and pop filter. If you want the most detail and everything in the box, the NT1-A; if you want the cheapest condenser that does the job or record loud sources, the AT2020.
